Gary Oldman has signed on to join Tom Hardy in the 1950s Soviet-era thriller "Child 44" at Scott Free, Worldview Entertainment, Summit Entertainment and Lionsgate.
Based on the novel by Tom Rob Smith, the story follows a disgraced agent of the Soviet military police (Hardy) who investigates a series of gruesome child murders, and finds himself the target of his own government’s suspicions.
Oldman will play the head of police who is acting on those suspicions. Noomi Rapace is also onboard as Hardy’s chameleon-like wife, while Joel Kinnaman will play an ambitious and murderous co-worker.
Daniel Espinosa is directing from a script by Richard Price. Ridley Scott and Michael Schaefer are producing. Shooting kicks off June 10th.
