Kate Beckinsale is in negotiations to star in "The Machinist" director Brad Anderson's new psychological thriller "Eliza Graves" at Nu Image/Millennium.
Beckinsale will play the title character, a patient at a mental institution in which the inmates have taken over and are posing as doctors.
She becomes the object of affection of a newly arrived Harvard Medical School grad who has no idea of this topsy-turvy world.
The story is based on the Edgar Allen Poe 1845 short story "The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether". Joseph Gangemi ("Fear Itself," "Wind Chill") adapted the script.
Bruce Davey, Mel Gibson, Mark Amin, Cami Winikoff and Oren Peli will produce, and shooting kicks off June 21st in Bulgaria.
