Joe Roth ("Oz the Great and Powerful") and Palek Patel have picked up the film rights to Marcus Sakey's upcoming novel "Brilliance" at Legendary Pictures. A writer is currently being sought for the script.

The story takes place in a world where a rare set of people are born with extraordinary abilities and are called “brilliants.” At the center of the story is a federal agent with great hunting gifts who is drafted to hunt down a terrorist, another such brilliant who intends to start a civil war. Thank You For Your Service
DreamWorks has acquired screen rights to Pulitzer Prize-winning Washington Post reporter David Finkel's upcoming book "Thank You For Your Service".

The story covers the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder that is making it so difficult for these and other soldiers to return from the battlefield and reintegrate into society. A major writer will soon be set to script a film. [Source: Deadline]

Calling Me Home
Warner Bros. has picked up the film rights to Julie Kibler's book "Calling Me Home". Roy Lee is attached to produce and is now seeking out a writer to adapt the material.

The story revolves around the relationship between an 89-year-old woman and her hairdresser, a black single mother. [Source: THR]
