"True Blood" Replaces Its Showrunner

By Garth Franklin Monday March 11th 2013 05:42AM

After serving as show runner on HBO's "True Blood", Alan Ball stepped down last May so that Mark Hudis would take over in the role for the upcoming sixth season.

Now, Hudis is being replaced by writer-producer Brian Buckner who will take over the role starting with the last few of the episodes of the still in-production sixth season. Buckner has been with the vampire series since its first season.

Regarding the departure, a network spokesperson says: "Mark Hudis has stepped down as showrunner of True Blood to focus on development under his overall deal with the network." Hudis, who came on the show as a co-executive producer in the fourth season, signed a two-year deal with HBO last spring.
