Keri Russell ("Dark Skies," "The Americans") has scored the still-unidentified female lead role in Matt Reeves' "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" at 20th Century Fox.
The action is set fifteen years after the events of "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" with most of humanity wiped out and the intelligent apes ruling over the world.
The story follows a small group of San Francisco-based scientists that are forming a resistance against the apes. Andy Serkis, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke and Kodi Smit-McPhee also star.
The selection isn't a huge surprise, Matt Reeves was a co-creator on TV's "Felicity" which starred Russell. Mark Bomback penned the script, and the film is targeting a May 2014 release.
