STYD reports that a September 12th 2014 release date has been announced for a sixth film in the "Resident Evil" franchise.
This comes as a mild surprise due to director Paul W.S. Anderson's commitments to his upcoming "Pompeii" epic. There is already speculation that another helmer could be taking over directing duties on one of the two projects.
Anderson has previously suggested he had a story in mind that would essentially close out the film franchise.
Despite scathing reviews, last year's fifth film "Resident Evil: Retribution" pulled in $221 million worldwide from a $65 million budget.
