Both "The Sopranos" and "Sex and the City" put HBO on the map when they debuted, and just recently fans of both were ecstatic that Tony & his family finally returned in the fifth season on the network whilst the finished 'Sex' was abuzz with movie talk.
Its fascinating to see how much can change in a week with the future of both shows now looking to be locked in for a small screen future according to Entertainment Weekly. For 'Sopranos' fans the good news is that executive producer David Chase has agreed to do a ten-episode sixth season of the show which will probably air sometime next year. However that decision comes at a price - NO "The Sopranos" movie - at least not with Chase.
"Sex and the City" fans will be more deflated though. Last week things seemed perky that a film version of this famed racy comedy series will happen despite some minor talk of bad blood and/or indecision of some of the co-stars. Now series executive producer Michael Patrick King, who was supposed to write and direct the film, said at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival a film ain't going to happen as they feel the show ended exactly how they wanted and there's no need for a film - "Nothing we did in the series was altered to save something for the movie, This is exactly the way we wanted to end the series, we're proud of what we did".
