With the release of the second season of "Game of Thrones" on DVD, Blu-ray and VOD this week, four deleted scenes included on the disc set have made their way online. Each of the scenes deal with various supporting characters.
The first, involving the death of a handmaiden, is an understandable exclusion. The next involves an exchange between Sandor Clegane, Lady Sansa and Tyrion, and is a more interesting scene - mostly for Tyrion's obvious but unspoken concern for Sansa.
Better still is a battle of words between Lord Varys and Littlefinger. Their verbal exchanges were a highlight of the first season and notably downgraded in the second as the Varys & Tyrion relationship took precedence. So, it is nice to see these two go at it again even if the words aren't as pointed.
The fourth is the one that is the most surprising omission - Margaery Tyrell comforting her brother Loras over the death of his lover and her husband Renly. It adds depth to two key side characters which required more, and it makes a point of showing the costume which leads the charge of the army in "Blackwater" - something that's not entirely made clear on first viewing of the episode.
The third season is slated to go to air on March 31st.
