"The Hunger Games" and "Shattered Glass" scribe Billy Ray has been hired to write a competing script draft for the upcoming reboot of "The Mummy" franchise at Universal Pictures.
Len Wiseman is slated to direct the project with "Prometheus" scribe Jon Spaihts having penned the first version of the script.
It's expected both drafts will be combined into one shooting script, utilising the best qualities of each scribe.
All that's known of the story at this time is that it will take place in a contemporary setting, rather than the period setting of the Stephen Sommers films.
Shooting aims to begin this Summer for a mid-2014 release.
