Chernin Entertainment has scored the film rights to "Thor" and "Star Trek Into Darkness" art director Kasra Farahani's new sci-fi short film "Noon".
The story is set two centuries in the future where, due to a shift in the Earth’s axis, the Arctic is one of the only inhabitable lands left, although it is in a perpetual state of day.
The short focuses on a man who facilitates the transfer of illegal immigrants in Noon, the largest city-state on the continent. Unlike other shorts of this type, the sci-fi elements are restrained, the focus instead on character and suspense.
Chernin will develop the project internally and hire a scribe to pen the script shortly. Farahani is attached to direct.
