Kate Winslet is in talks to join Neil Burger's "Divergent," the first of a potential trilogy at Summit Entertainment.
Veronica Roth penned the young adult novel on which the film is based. The story is set in a society divided into five factions that each represent a particular virtue: honesty, selflessness, bravery, peacefulness and intelligence.
Once a year, sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. It's then a teenage boy and girl set out to rebel against the system and discover a growing conflict that threatens to unravel this seemingly perfect society.
Shailene Woodley has already been cast as the teenage female lead. Winslet's role is presently unknown.
Vanessa Taylor is presently re-writing the script, and the film is currently targeting a March 21st 2014 release.
