Earlier today came a report at The Wrap that SNL regular and comedy actor Bill Hader ("Superbad," "Paul") would be taking on the David Hasselhoff role in the upcoming cinematic reboot of "Baywatch."
The news came directly from Robert Ben Garant, who is actually directing the movie. Garant said Hader will indeed play the lead lifeguard - IF a deal can be finalized.
Collider got in touch with Hader's representatives shortly after who claim the casting announcement is false and the script isn't finished yet. Does that mean it won't happen?
The story of the film incarnation will follow a group of lifeguards working on the Malibu coast who explore an oil rig that turns out to be a meth lab. Jeremy Garelick and Peter Tolan have penned drafts of the script and shooting is aiming to begin in April.
