Casting Couch: Jane, Fraser, Coplan

"Lions Gate Films has acquired worldwide rights to several books in the catalog of "30 Days of Night" comic author Steve Niles in addition to establishing a first-look deal on all film projects by or found by Niles and actor Thomas Jane ("The Punisher"). The deal includes Niles' titles "The Lurkers," "The Dark Country," which has been adapted into a screenplay by Tab Murphy ("Tarzan"), "In the Blood" and a new project to be named at next week's Comic-Con International in San Diego. Jane intends to take leading or supporting roles in each of the films, and he and Niles will serve as producers with Lions Gate..." (full details)

"Brendan Fraser will topline Millennium Films' "Journey to the End of the Night" for "Manito" writer-helmer Eric Eason. Thriller - the story of a son and father separately planning to escape the desolation of their lives through a lurid underworld - will lense in Brazil in September. "Dan Coplan joins Joanna Going (Into The West) and Taylor Nichols (Jurasic Park III, Last Days of Disco) in the cast of "SAVE ME" now filming in Los Angeles. "Save Me" is a Hitchcockian thriller about an aid worker, Rita Lambert (Going), who returns from an assignment in South America. Having seen something she wasn't supposed to see, she is hunted in a deadly game of international intrigue. Coplan will play Detective Jack Porto, who arrives on the scene of an inexplicable abduction of Going's character and must solve the crime. Jennifer Getzinger directs from her original script."
