"Life of Pi" director Ang Lee confirmed at this week's Palm Springs International Film Festival Gala that he hopes to direct the "Cleopatra" biopic at Sony Pictures.
Lee says: "I'm about to read the script. It just feels right to me after all the other types of films I've done. What does it have in common with any of them? They're all totally different! That's what makes this perfect."
Based on Stacy Schiff's bestselling book "Cleopatra: A Life", Angelina Jolie remains attached to star as the Egyptian queen in this story which depicts her as a master strategist in politics and war.
Scott Rudin will produce. The likes of Paul Greengrass, James Cameron and David Fincher have previously been attached to the project over the past few years.
