Back in October, Paramount Pictures dropped the NFL-endorsed football dramedy "Draft Day" which had Kevin Costner attached.
Two months later, Rajiv Joseph and Scott Rothman's script made the top of the Black List, the film industry's annual tally of the best unproduced screenplays.
Lionsgate Films quickly began talks with attached director and producer Ivan Reitman and negotiations are proceeding apace between them and Costner's people about making the film.
Costner would star as the fictional general manager of the perennially outgunned upstate New York team the Buffalo Bills. When the hapless team gets the first-round draft pick, he must suddenly make all sorts of trades and sacrifices.
