Anjelica Huston and David Thewlis have accepted the roles of Lady Astair and Count Zurov in Seven Arts Entertainment's "The Winter Queen".
Russian director Fedor Bonderchuk helms this adaptation of Boris Akunin's best-selling novel which follows intrepid young police detective Erast Fandorin. Fandorin is looking into the suicides of several wealthy young men throughout Russia in 1886, and soon uncovers an extensive plot for global domination.
Milla Jovovich has long been attached to star as Lady Amalia, the femme fatale at the center of it all. Thewlis' suave yet volatile Count Zurov is the only protection Fandorin has from the ever more elaborate attempts on his life.
Huston's Lady Astair is a saintly British aristocrat and founder of a string of orphanages which have greatly benefited from the wills of the affluent dead men.
The production has had a long and winding history on the way to finally locking down a start of filming date in April. Additional casting announcements will be made shortly.
