Fans of the acclaimed "Portal" video game series likely recognized the voice of psychotic operating system GlaDOS in last month's trailer for Guillermo del Toro's "Pacific Rim."
Out doing promotion for "Mama", del Toro revealed that he got Valve's permission to use voice actress Ellen McLain for the trailer for his monsters vs. giant robots movie.
Del Toro says: "I wanted very much to have her, because I'm a big Portal fan. But just as a wink. She's not cake-obsessed. She's not out to destroy humanity. I said, 'Look, there's no A.I. I'd rather have than GlaDOS.'"
He added that in the final film, the voice of the robot A.I. will be less like the voice heard in the games: "The filter we're using is slightly less GLaDOS. Slightly. The one in the trailer I wanted to be full-on GlaDOS."
