The first footage has arrived for J.J. Abrams' much anticipated "Star Trek Into Darkness" and it's epic. From a starship both crashing into and emerging out of an ocean, to Benedict Cumberbatch's mysterious stranger "returning to seek vengeance".
Plus there's plenty of shots of new cast member Alice Eve sporting a 60's style bob hairdo, along with lots of differing locales. Check it out for yourself either in HD on Apple.com or via streaming below. Visit the official Facebook page:
This is a cut down version of the full-length teaser trailer, the one that will be seen in front of "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey". That full version is set to debut online on December 17th.
Meanwhile the Japanese version, which can be seen here sports an extra 10 seconds that pretty much confirms this is a loose reimagining of "Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan".
Abrams' first 'Trek' was essentially "Star Wars" dressed in "Star Trek" clothing. The trailer for this seems even less like "Star Trek" and more akin to what I would imagine a "Mass Effect" movie would look like.
