Joel Silver's Silver Pictures has picked up "XXX" scribe Rich Wilkes' spec script "Straight Edge".
The Los Angeles-set action film revolves around a heist gone wrong with various characters including corrupt cops and gang bangers.
The tone and style of the script is said to be akin to the 80's movies that Silver made his name on such films as "48 Hrs." and "Lethal Weapon".
Silver, Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman will produce. It's presently unknown if the film will go through Silver's new distribution deal at Universal or be picked up by another studio.
