Though rumored a while back, it is now confirmed that both Dwayne Johnson and director Brett Ratner have officially signed on for a "Hercules" movie at MGM. Paramount Pictures has also just hopped onboard as co-producer.
Based on Steve Moore's graphic novel "Hercules: The Thracian Wars", the revisionist story paints Hercules (Dwayne Johnson) as the leader of a group of mercenaries.
He soon discovers a higher calling as he defends the mythical Mount Olympus from an evil army.
Ryan Condal and Evan Spiliotopoulos penned the script while Ratner, Beau Flynn and Barry Levine will produce. Shooting kicks off early next year.
