"Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn," Clark Gable's famous line from the 1939 classic "Gone With the Wind," was named the most memorable movie quote in a poll by the American Film Institute yesterday reports Reuters.
"I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse" from 1972's "The Godfather" was second. Marlon Brando also claimed third with his line from 1954's "On the Waterfront:" "You don't understand! I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I could've been somebody instead of a bum, which is what I am."
The AFI asked some 1,500 creative industry professionals for their favorite quote. Fourth and fifth were Judy Garland's "Toto, I've got a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore" and Humphrey Bogart's "Here's looking at you kid" from "Casablanca" respectively.
