Casting News: Portman, Marling, Dench

Jackie
Fox Searchlight is courting Natalie Portman to play the title character in "Jackie", the Noah Oppenheim-scripted drama about former first lady Jackie Kennedy following the assassination of her husband JFK.

Darren Aronofsky was at one point attached as director. Portman's involvement will depend upon whom the director is. [Source: Deadline]

The Green Blade Rises
Brit Marling and Wes Bentley have joined A.J. Edwards' "The Green Blade Rises", the story of a young Abraham Lincoln and how those who influenced him growing up affected the man he would become.

Marling will play his mother Nancy while Bentley plays his first teacher. Terrence Malick is producing. [Source: Deadline]

Philomena
Judi Dench and Steve Coogan are set to star in Stephen Frears' bittersweet comedy "Philomena" which is now slated to begin filming at the end of October.

Pathe, BBC Films and the BFI are producing the movie about an Irish woman who has spent 50 years searching for the son taken away from her when she was a teenager. [Source: THR]
