"Zombieland" and "Gangster Squad' director Ruben Fleischer has signed on to helm the film adaptation of Midway's 80's video game hit "Spy Hunter" at Warner Bros. Pictures and Vertigo Films says Vulture.
'Hunter' is an action/driving game featuring the G-6155 Interceptor, a fictitious car that is beset by a wide array of enemy vehicles. The lead character is an ex-fighter pilot turned freelance assassin who specialises in targeting intelligence agents who have gone rogue.
The project has come close to production numerous times in the past. The likes of John Woo and Paul W.S. Anderson have been attached to direct while The Rock was keen on starring at one point. At last report Chad St. John was penning the script.
