"Oldboy" helmer Park Chan-wook is set to direct the period crime drama "Corsica 72" for 1984 Private Defense Contractors and Ruby Films says Variety.
The true story tale follows two best friends who live on the small island of Corsica where they choose different paths in life - one as an honest working man, the other as a gangster - and feud over a woman who comes between them.
Oliver Hirschbiegel ("Downfall") and Luca Guadagnino ("I Am Love") were previously linked as directors, while actors like Andrew Garfield and Gemma Arterton have been mentioned in conjunction with earlier incarnations.
Frequent Bond film scribes Neal Purvis and Robert Wade are penning the script and producing alongside Adi Shankar, Spencer Silna, Alison Owen and Paul Trijbits.
Park is expected to helm this before he goes to work on S. Craig Zahler's ultraviolet western "The Brigands of Rattleborge" which needs to secure a major star.
