"Fast Five" director Justin Lin is in negotiations to direct "L.A. Riots" for Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment says Vulture.
First setup six years ago with Spike Lee, it's unclear if scribe John Ridley's script draft from that time will be used or if Lin will be starting anew.
The project will deal with the infamous public rioting that occurred twenty years ago after four LAPD officers were acquitted in the beating of Rodney King. The ensuing violence left 53 killed and over $1 billion in property damage.
Ron Howard and Brian Grazer will produce the film. Lin is currently shooting "Fast Six".
