The long-gestating English-language remake of Jean-Pierre Melville's 1970 crime thriller "Le Cercle Rouge" ("The Red Circle") is moving forward it seems.
Producer Arthur Sarkissian confirms to Crave Online that James Mangold ("Knight and Day," "3:10 to Yuma") will helm the project which will film next Summer in Hong Kong and Macau.
Alain Delon starred in the original as an ex-con who winds up getting pulled back into the world of crime, teaming with a hitman for a major heist.
Sarkissian's wish list for the lead role includes Christian Bale, Russell Crowe, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt and Tom Hardy. Mangold would shoot the film once he wraps "The Wolverine" which is just about to begin filming.
