Trade Breaks: Frontin, Slevin, Franco

"Roy Freirich and Debrah Neal are writing "Frontin' " for Fox Searchlight Pictures. Robert Teitel and George Tillman's State Street Pictures are producing. "Frontin' " is a cautionary tale and tour through the young Hollywood scene, following multiple characters from all walks of life who are "frontin,' " meaning they are pretending to be something they are not in order to achieve fame and glory. "The Weinstein Co. has acquired multiple distribution rights, including domestic rights, to the gangster thriller "Lucky Number Slevin." The film stars Bruce Willis, Josh Hartnett, Lucy Liu, Morgan Freeman and Ben Kingsley and was directed by Paul McGuigan. Written by Jason Smilovic, "Slevin" is set in the world of New York gangsters and follows a case of mistaken identity, which lands Hartnett's character (Slevin) in the middle of a murder being plotted by one of the city's most notorious crime bosses..." Fortress Entertainment and Liberty Films have partnered to produce "Franco." Ed Gernon will direct a script by Clancy Sigal ("Frida") and Janice Tidwell. Pic is based on the life of Franco Magnani, as chronicled in Oliver Sacks' book "An Anthropologist on Mars." It's the true story of a gifted but mentally troubled Italian immigrant painter who's driven to re-create in perfect photographic detail the Tuscan village of his childhood, destroyed 20 years earlier.
