Dustin Hoffman Smells The Perfume

After weeks of speculation, Germany's Constantin Film Produktion has now officially confirmed that US star Dustin Hoffman will play one of the leads in Tom Tykwer's forthcoming adaptation of Patrick Sueskind's international bestseller Perfume reports Screen Daily.

Hoffman has been cast as the perfumer Giuseppe Baldini, with the young UK actor Ben Whishaw (Enduring Love) taking on the part of the main figure Grenouille and Alan Rickman cast as Grenouille's opponent Antoine Richis.

Shooting on the European co-production is set to begin on July 12 at locations near Barcelona and the South of France as well as having studio work at Munich's Bavaria Film Studios.
