Peter and Bobby Farrelly ("Fever Pitch", "The Ringer") are close to a deal to rewrite and direct DreamWorks' "The Heartbreak Kid," which will likely be their next film reports Variety.
The romantic comedy is a loosely inspired remake of the 1972 pic written by Neil Simon and directed by Elaine May. Story concerns a man who hastily weds a woman he thinks is perfect - until he falls in love with another woman during their honeymoon.
A few helmers have been attached to the project over the past year, including Barry Sonnenfeld and James Bobin. Jason Bateman and Amy Poehler were also recently set to star. With the Farrellys aboard, however, all previous name attachments are void.
The Farrellys remain committed to directing "The Three Stooges" but haven't yet nailed down how they want to put the picture together.
Thanks to 'Corey'.
