Colin Farrell has been offered the lead role in Akiva Goldsman's $75 million supernatural drama "Winter's Tale" at Warner Bros. Pictures reports Variety.
Based on Mark Helprin's 1983 novel, the story follows a young thief on the run who breaks into a wealthy man's home and ends up falling for his terminally-ill daughter.
Russell Crowe and Will Smith are expected to take on supporting roles in the project, while Jessica Brown Findlay ("Downton Abbey") has already been cast.
The likes of Luke Evans, Garrett Hedlund, Liam Hemsworth, Aaron Johnson and Benjamin Walker have also been under consideration and if Farrell passes, one of them could well accept the offer.
Shooting kicks off October 15th in New York.
