Director's Chair: Scorsese, Cooper, Dolman

"Martin Scorsese is negotiating to direct a theatrical documentary on Boeing rival Airbus, constructor of Europe's super jumbo jet. Scorsese will team with Spanish docu producer-director Jose Luis Lopez-Linares ("Un instante en la vida ajena," "Strangers to Themselves"), who will take a co-director credit. The doc will establish a parallel between the creation of Airbus airliners and a cathedral, recording the contribution of a factory worker, engineer and architect. Pic will shoot in Toulouse, France; Bremen, Germany; and Cadiz, Spain..." (full details)

"Trent Cooper has been tapped to direct "Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector," a feature starring comedian Larry the Cable Guy, one of the four stars of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. Paramount Home Entertainment will distribute. Cooper is a helmer of commercials, shorts and documentaries, and directed "The Comeback," a short starring Samuel Jackson that won an award at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival..." (full details)

"New Line has teamed up with Walden Media to co-finance and produce "How to Eat Fried Worms," an adaptation of the Thomas Rockwell young-adult novel. Bob Dolman ("The Banger Sisters") wrote the script and will direct. A July start date has been set for the pic. "Fried Worms" is a comedy about an 11-year-old boy whose first day in school devolves into a battle with the school bully. It leads to a dare that the youth can't eat 10 worms in one day. The kid turns out to be "Fear Factor" material, and his exploits change the balance of power in the fifth grade. "Fried Worms" opens late summer or fall 2006..." (full details)
