Three More Join Reitman's "Labor Day"

James Van Der Beek ("Don’t Trust the B— in Apartment 23"), Brighid Fleming ("Gamer") and Gattlin Griffith ("Changeling") are in negotiations to join the cast of Jason Reitman’s "Labor Day" for Indian Paintbrush and Paramount says the trades.

The story centers on a boy (Griffith) and his depressed divorced mother (Kate Winslet) who, during a Labor Day Weekend, meet a stranger (Josh Brolin) and offer him a ride. The man turns out to be an escaped convict who ends up teaching the boy life lessons.

Van Der Beek will play a police officer investigating a missing person’s case. Fleming plays the object of Griffith's affection and a girl with much more awareness of the way the world works than he has. Tom Lipinski and Maika Monroe also star.

Helen Estabrook, Lianne Halfon and Russell Smith are producing this adaptation of Joyce Maynard's novel.
