Frequent TV director Beth McCarthy ("30 Rock," "Work It") is set to make her feature directorial debut on the raunchy comedy "Tammy" for New Line says The Hollywood Reporter.
The story centers on an unemployed woman who discovers her husband is having an affair and decides to go on a road trip with her alcoholic, foul-mouthed, diabetic grandmother.
"Bridesmaids" actress Melissa McCarthy (no relation) co-wrote, executive produce and will star in the project.
McCarthy has also been reportedly linked to a potential "Bridesmaids" sequel that would focus on her character because star Kristen Wiig doesn't want to do it. McCarthy tells the trade that the news is "unequivocally not true".
