After much speculation and various conflicting reports, it has now been confirmed (via Movieweb and /Film) that "The Last Stand" at Lionsgate will be Arnold Schwarzenegger's first post-Governor project.

The story follows a lone border sheriff tasked with stopping an escaped drug dealer from crossing into Mexico in a super car. Liam Neeson was previously cast in the role but departed a few months ago.

The deal has yet to been signed, but could happen "at any time". The project marks "I Saw the Devil" filmmaker Kim Ji-Woon‘s English language directorial debut and was written by first-time screenwriter Andrew Knauer.
