Paul Haggis ("Crash," "The Next Three Days") is in talks to write a spy thriller based on Gabriel Allon, the character in author Daniel Silva's ten novels, for Universal Pictures reports The Los Angeles Times.
The character is described as a forty-something Mossad agent who got revenge for the Munich Olympics incident earlier in his career. Now he's taken a quieter job restoring art, but is often called out of retirement for covert missions, many of them involving terrorists with ties to radical Islamic groups.
The first film would likely use elements from the first book "The Kill Artist" but could blend storylines from other books in the series. Haggis could potentially direct it, but with the project in such early stages a decision is a long way off. Jeff Zucker will produce.
