By Garth Franklin Monday April 18th 2005 03:15PM

He first appeared as a mostly nude radio jock on "Dawson's Creek", tried his hand at resurrecting "The Lone Ranger", and now is one of Warners big potential stars with a hit series ("One Tree Hill"), teen movie career ("A Cinderella Story", "House of Wax") and has found his visage the fantasy of many a person under the age of 30 (and sometimes over) across the globe.

Now, Chad Michael Murray is in final negotiations to star in "Stealing Cars" for Warner Bros. Pictures says The Hollywood Reporter. Written by Will Aldis and Steve Mackall, the drama is aiming to begin shooting sometime before year's end.

The story centers on a rebellious teenager (Murray) who is guilt-ridden over the accidental death of his father and spirals into delinquency that lands him at the tough and corrupt Arizona Juvenile Institution. There, he clashes with inmates and abusive administrators. With the help of the local sheriff and the resident nurse, he unites his fellow inmates and faces off against the demons at the institution and within himself.
