The Latest Superman Rumblings

Lots of things have been happening on the "Superman Returns" project with the first lot of public location shoots in Sydney causing an uproar. Late last week they converted Wynyard, one of the most important public transport hubs in the city, into a film set causing disruptions all over.

Superman Homepage had a short report: "They were filming a scene outside a building which they converted into Metropolis General Hospital. This was reportedly the largest scene they'd be shooting for the movie, with around 1,300 extras being employed for the scene. The extras were used as crowd, standing around outside the Hospital, holding banners and waving flags. The banners read, "Save Our Superman", "I love Superman", "Superman Don't Die!", "God Speed Superman". There were also dozens and dozens of flower arrangements lying in the park (as if in tribute for someone who was sick or dying)."

Meanwhile, Channel 7 News in Sydney put video up on their website about the filming going on in Sydney, and it includes a great shot of Routh on a Superman support placard in the crowd. Click Here for a small shot of him from the video. Also, the first shot of Kate Bosworth's Lois Lane look is up at Superhero Hype.

Ecran Large reports that in an interview with "Smallville" creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, the pair revealed that their will be a link between the show and the film - "We had a discussion with Bryan Singer and even if we're kept to the secret for the moment, we can tell you that something's going to happen in the fifth season of Smallville that will have an impact on the Superman Returns movie."

Finally, a first look at the S insignia redesign from the film (very similar to the old but slightly more angular) is up at Development Hell.
