The lovely Gong Li is keeping busy it seems. Following up a turn in the upcoming "Memoirs of a Geisha" adaptation, she will play Isabella, the Chinese-Cuban wife of the leader of a transnational crime syndicate and Colin Farrell's love interest in the Michael Mann-directed "Miami Vice" for Universal reports Variety.
Production on Mann's flick begins in May in Miami and South America and is based on the classic 80's cop TV series with Farrell and Jamie Foxx stepping into the lead roles. "The part of Isabella required psychological complexity and beauty, both of which she has" says Mann who indicated the role will require the actress to speak both English and Spanish.
Li will immediately follow that with "Behind the Mask", the Peter Webber-directed fifth installment of the Lecter franchise scripted by "The Silence of the Lambs" author Thomas Harris. In that she plays Lady Murasaki, the Japanese woman who teaches cultural sophistication to a young Hannibal Lecter. Shooting begins in September in Prague.
