One of the more notable shows ending this year aside from "Friends" is of course "Sex and the City". The story of four Manhattan girls and their frank talk of sex and relationships was a ground breaker in terms of content and production values, whilst along with the likes of "The Sopranos" and "Six Feet Under" helped establish HBO as pretty much the most reliable producer of quality television out there - forcing the regular networks to up the standards of their newer shows, which in some cases (ala "CSI", "Without A Trace", "24", "Alias") they've succeeded.
Now with the sixth season coming to an end this Sundy, Variety reports that columnist Carrie Bradshaw and co. look to be coming to the big screen for a feature film to be written and directed by Emmy-winning series regular Michael Patrick King. King is expected to turn in his script by May for production as early as late Summer (no start date has been announced). A distributor has yet to be attached.
HBO is currently making deals with the four stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall to reprise their roles in the pic. This would mark one of the few times a film based on a series will include all its original cast members - til now the only real major success stories in those stakes have been the "Star Trek" films with both the Original Series and "Next Generation" casts and "The X-Files" movie.
