Aretha Franklin says Halle Berry is her pick to portray the legendary soul singer in a biopic about her life reports Perez Hilton.
The 68-year-old legend is currently recovering from treatment from pancreatic cancer in Detroit. She told talk show host Wendy Williams that the film has been under consideration for years but is now finally making some head way towards production with all the financing in place.
Filmmakers are still looking for an actress to play her in her younger years as Berry is apparently pegged to star as an older Aretha. Franklin has also spoken with Terrance Howard about playing Smokey Robinson.
Berry is currently filming romantic comedy "New Year's Eve" and remains attached to various films including ensemble comedy "Shoe Addicts Anonymous" the Wachowski's sci-fi drama "Cloud Atlas".
