A couple of interesting bits of casting speculation have arisen over the New Year holiday.
The Dark Tower
Javier Bardem and Viggo Mortensen are apparently the front runners to play Gunslinger Roland Deschain in Ron Howard's adaptation of Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" says The New York Post.
Whomever signs will likely play Deschain across all three proposed films and potentially the first season of the tie-in TV show.
Sam Rockwell, Josh Brolin, Javier Barden, Bill Murray, Mark Ruffalo, and Zoe Saldana are all being rumoured to star in Andrew Dominick's "Cogan's Trade" reports Getting the Big Picture.
The story follows a professional enforcer who investigates a heist that takes place during a poker game under protection of the mob.
The rumors come at the same time that previously rumoured star Brad Pitt has officially signed on to play the lead role in the comedy says Variety. Shooting kicks off in March in Louisiana.
Finally, one bit of casting speculation that can be shot down is Natalie Portman being linked to both the upcoming "Superman" reboot and third "Batman" feature.
The actress tells EW that "No, I haven't heard anything" in regards to Superman, and "Oh, I don't know anything about that" in regards to Batman.
