New Line is creating the action-comedy "Ride Along" as a starring vehicle for both Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and funnyman Ryan Reynolds says Variety.
Roger Kumble has just been set to direct the film, and he will do a rewrite of a Greg Coolidge script to tailor the pic to the stars. Johnson will play a tough cop who tries to halt a budding romance between his sister and a fellow schoolteacher. After closing a deal with Kumble, New Line will negotiate with the stars in hopes of getting the film into production later this year.
The Rock is currently in theatres with "Be Cool" and later this Summer with "Doom", but is next shooting his role as a football coach in the Sony drama "Gridiron Gang." Reynolds just wrapped the Kumble-directed "Just Friends" for the studio and will next be seen in the remake of "The Amityville Horror" next month.
Thanks to 'Mickey'.
