Clooney & Downey Wish Us Goodnight

By Garth Franklin Tuesday March 8th 2005 06:48PM

Clooney Studio reports that Robert Downey Jr. will star alongside George Clooney in Warner Bros. "Goodnight, and Good Luck", the second film that the former "ER" actor will direct.

The project follows the legendary "See It Now" on-air confrontations between CBS News anchor Edward R. Murrow and ultra-conservative anti-Communist Senator Joseph McCarthy. These arguments in which Murrow challenged McCarthy on his claims that Communists were working covertly as Soviet spies in the US government, played a big part in bringing down the infamous politician's disgusting witch-hunting techniques that caused a climate of fear in the mid-1950s.

Filming begins this week in Los Angeles for seven weeks with David Strathairn playing Murrow, Clooney playing producer Fred Friendly and Patricia Clarkson also starring.

Thanks to 'Nic'.
