Out doing press for "Inception", British actor Tom Hardy ("Bronson") talked about his involvement in the upcoming "Mad Max: Fury Road" in which he takes over Mel Gibson's iconic role of the titular road warrior.
"It's a relaunch and revisit to the world, an entire restructuring. That's not to say that it's not picking up or leaving off from the 'Mad Max' you know already, but it's a nice re-take on the entire world using the same character, depositing him in the same world, but bringing him up to date by 30 years. You can expect the same amount of grit and rawness and authenticity [to my] performance" Hardy told First Showing.
Hardy confirmed that Weta Workshop will be doing the CG effects, but expect most of the action to be of the much more practical variety - "I think it's going to be much more like Chris [Nolan], how he deals with action - these things are going to be really there. Big rigs, big explosions, big car crashes, big violence."
The actor confirmed he's in Australia this week to start stunt training for the film and he'll start fight training soon. Hardy also revealed he has to drop 30 pounds for the role and the shooting schedule will run a surprisingly long nine months.
