Anthony Minghella ("Cold Mountain", "The Talented Mr. Ripley") is set to helm "Breaking and Entering" for Miramax Films reports Variety. Production of his original screenplay will be the first time he's helmed a film based on his own script since his 1991 debut pic, "Truly Madly Deeply."
No budget has yet been announced for 'Breaking', though it will no doubt be a much smaller movie than Minghella's last two. Casting is underway and shooting is scheduled to commence in April. The ensemble drama follows contemporary Londoners from a variety of ethnic and class backgrounds whose lives intersect in the seedy inner-city area of Kings Cross.
The title refers to the film's central theme of theft, both criminal and emotional. Minghella is also still working on his previously announced adaptation of Liz Jensen's novel "The Ninth Life of Louis Drax" for the studio, and plans to shoot that pic toward the end of this year.
Thanks to 'Frigid'.
