It's official. In a press release issued today, FOX has confirmed that the current eighth season of the hit action series will be its last.
The press release full of the usual pleasantries can be found at My foxal, an announcement which calls the cancellation a "joint decision" on behalf of everyone involved. No mention is made anywhere in the release about a potential movie follow-up as has been rumoured.
The two-hour season/series finale will go to air on Monday, May 24th.
Doctor Who
Recently we've been spoiled for trailers for the new 'Who'. First came a 30-second UK commercial (watch here) which was a cut down version of the 60-second trailer screened at a press premiere screening the week before.
Soon after came the 60-second BBC America trailer (watch here) and a cut down 30-second version (watch here) of that.
Today the best one yet, that original minute-long UK version, has finally emerged online and includes quite a few new money shots, especially of monsters and some action sequences. You can watch that below or (click here):
The clip premiered on last night's Jonathan Ross chat show where new Doctor Matt Smith gave a lengthy albeit very nervous interview about the role (watch here). Ross also premiered the first non-trailer clip from the new series, a scene from the sixth episode "Vampires in Venice" which gives us our first real look at Smith's performance in the role. In Security
"Superman Returns" hunk Brandon Routh has joined the cast of TBS' series about two sisters (Constance Zimmer, Kat Foster) running a private-security business protecting the super-elite says The Futon Critic.
Routh plays a former Navy SEAL-turned-bodyguard who is romantically involved with one of the sisters. Hal Linden, Amir Arison, Tina Majorino and Kevin Michael Richardson also star.
Walking Dead
Jon Bernthal ("The Ghost Writer") has joined the cast of AMC's zombie apocalypse drama series says MTV.
An adaptation of Robert Kirkman's graphic novel, the story follows a group of survivors search for a safe home after a zombie apocalypse. Bernthal plays the partner of cop character Rick Grimes who serves as the lead.
Frank Darabont penned the adaptation and will direct the pilot. Darabont, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert will executive produce.
