LOTR: Return of the King: "The third time was indeed the charm for Peter Jackson, as the New Zealander won the DGA Award as 2003's top filmmaker for directing New Line's "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King". The victory brightens the Oscar outlook for Jackson and "Return of the King," which received 11 Academy noms, including picture and director..." (more info). Science Fiction: "Columbia Pictures has picked up remake rights to Dutch family pic "Science Fiction" for producer Lauren Shuler Donner. The original 2002 movie, directed by Danny Deprez, is the story of a boy who arrives in a new neighborhood and makes friends with the local kids by convincing them that his odd parents are actually aliens..." (more info). The Great Hartford Elementary Heist: "Helmer Peter Hewitt's next assignment will be for Universal Pictures. He plans to start work on it as soon as he completes "Garfield," due out June 25 from 20th Century Fox. "Heist," produced by Playtone Prods.' Gary Goetzman and Tom Hanks, is a family caper pic about a group of 11-year-olds who band together to retrieve possessions wrongfully confiscated by their evil school principalschool principal..." (more info). Alias (DVD): DVD Answers indicates the currently airing third season's disc set will hit shelves September 7th, several weeks before the fourth season premiere. Ancanar: The official site for the fantasy film has undergone an overhaul. Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason: Pics from the comedy sequel set are up at Empire Online. Broken Lizard's Next: Details on the comedy troop's next are up at Cinema Confidential. DVD News: Details are out for Angels in America, Popular: Season One, Boy Meets World: Season One & Wild Things 2. Eurotrip: Four clips from the teen comedy are up at CineMovies. Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azkaban: HPANA reports a 135 minute runtime is currently rumoured. Hellboy: A new piece of very Indy-esque poster art by Drew Struzan is online at CHUD, however its a limited release and WILL NOT be the film's official poster - that will be the one currently out but with credits at the bottom. I Dream of Jeannie: With the "Bewitched" movie heating up, its no surprise that talk has stirred about that other magical sitcom coming to the big screen and Keira Knightley is being rumoured for Barbara Eden's role. LOTR: Return of the King (DVD): Peter Jackson confirmed on Friday to the IESB that the 'extended cut' will be 250 mins, exactly 50 mins longer than the theatrical version. No date is yet set, but the 'regular' edition will hit sooner - around May or June according to USA Today. Details and pics of the R2 regular version are now online. Release Date Shifts: FilmJerk reports that "Phantom of the Opera" will now open limited on Dec 4th before expanding gradually towards its platform wide release at Xmas. Superman: Beyonce Knowles confirmed to ExtraTV she is indeed up for Lois. The Aviator: The Martin Scorsese Howard Hughes project has been moved forward to November - thus priming it better for Oscar potential. TV News: Tennis star Serena Williams has begun work on Lifetime's new series "The Divison", Sherilyn Fenn is tipped to co-star in the new "Mr. Ed", and details are out on a new "Batman" animated series at ToonZone.
