Not only have new casting possibilities turned up, but a potential 'rival' project is in the works in regards to the live action adaptation of the Herge comic.
Moviehole reports that there are actually two “Tintin” films potentially in the works. Aside from Steven Spielberg’s planned project, last year's Oscar-winning director Roman Polanski is also purportedly interested in trying to bring the European adventurer to the big screen. Polanski is apparently eyeing the “Tintin in Tibet” comic to be used as the film's storyline.
Spielberg's version though is ahead and currently undergoing casting considerations. Two names being branded about are Rupert Grint ("Harry Potter") and Jamie Bell ("Billy Elliot"). Elliot is said to be a favourite choice of the director, but “since he only wants to do just one film, not two or more, Rupert Grint was then mentioned”.
