Variety reports that Dimension Films co-chairman Bob Weinstein is planning yet another 70's horror remake - "The Hills Have Eyes". Wes Craven, who wrote and directed the 1977 original, will produce alongside his Craven-Maddalena Films partner Marianne Maddalena and Peter Locke.
Alexandre Aja and Gregory Levasseur, the pair behind "Haute Tension" and "Furia, will write the script and Aja will direct. MGM and Dimension recently partnered on a deal to redo "The Amityville Horror," to be produced by Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes company responsible for the remake of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre."
The original film centered on a hapless family that makes a detour to a desolated desert to visit a silver mine they've inherited. There they are preyed upon by a disturbing clan. A special edition DVD release of the classic came out last year.
