June 25th 11:27pm US-PST: "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" took in an early estimate of $27 million on Thursday, around $2 million more than expected.

June 25th 10:08am US-PST: "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" took in an estimated $60.6 million in its opening day on Wednesday according to the trades, second only to "The Dark Knight" with $67.2 million. That amount does include the $16 million in midnight runs.

June 24th 11:17am US-PST: "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" pulled in an estimated $16 million haul from a 3,000 screen midnight run last night reports Variety.

That number is second only to "The Dark Knight" last Summer which took in $18.5 million from Thursday midnight runs last July. "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" previously held the record for a Tuesday midnight run opening with $12 million in 2007.

By this Sunday, 'Fallen' is expected to have a first five-day haul not far off from the $203 million take that 'Knight' scored last Summer.

Reviews for the Michael Bay epic are scathing. Over on Rotten Tomatoes, the first film pulled in a decent 57% approval rating and 5.8/10 average score. 'Fallen' however sits at 20% and 3.9/10.

Other films to have scored a 3.9/10 include the first "Tomb Raider" film, Oliver Stone's much-panned "Alexander", Kevin Costner disaster "The Postman", the worst of the Trek films "Star Trek V", and the god awful "Miss Congeniality 2".

On Metacritic the story isn't much better. The original scored 61/100, whereas 'Fallen' sits at 40/100. Other films to have scored 40 include "Fantastic Four", "The Day the Earth Stood Still" remake, "Saw 2" and "Anacondas: Hunt for the Blood Orchid".
